Our Team

When you work with The Laurel Centre you can be confident that you are working with therapists who are specifically trained in working with compulsive and addictive behaviours. All Clinical Associates are highly trained and experienced counsellors and psychotherapists who have undertaken further advanced Diploma level training in (CSBD) compulsive sexual behaviour disorder. Our Associates also have additional experience and expertise in their own specialist field, such as counselling couples or families, or working with people with a concurrent chemical addiction, trauma, or neurodiversity, or seeing clients from faith and LGBT+ communities. In addition to our UK based Clinical Associates, we also work alongside a number of International Affiliates who provide individual counselling, and group work in their country.

Nick

Nick originally trained as a relationship counsellor and sex therapist over 25 years ago, later specialising in the field of sex addiction.

Anita

Anita’s work as a counsellor focusses on addiction. She has gained much of her experience for group, personal and family therapy through the Priory and private practice.

Barbara

Barbara originally trained as a Relate therapist, and holds an MA in Relationship Therapy, and later completed Diploma-level training in CSBD

Cecily

Cecily is a sex and love addiction counsellor, psychosexual therapist, and sexuality educator. Her experience in in neuroscience research and education enable a holistic view of individuals and relationships.

Christine

Christine has worked in a range of Social Care and Health settings, with adults and young people, for 30 years.

Claire

Claire is a psychodynamic relational therapist with a specialist training in Sex and Porn addiction.

David

David is an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist trained to Master’s level and who places great importance on the therapeutic relationship.

Derek

Derek is an integrative psychotherapist with additional training in compulsive behaviour, including sex and pornography addiction.

Donnah

Donnah is an Integrative Counsellor with experience working across a variety of settings where she has worked with individuals presenting with grief and loss, anxiety and depression as well as sex & porn addiction.

Emma

Emma has been working as a counsellor for 22 years. She originally worked as a nurse and midwife within the NHS before going on to train as a psychodynamic counsellor and working with adult survivors of child abuse.

Gabriel

Gabriel has a background of working in the field of addiction, with clinical experience of working with chemical addictions in both the charity sector and in private practice.

Jane

Jane is a holistic, integrative therapist and she has also been a counsellor for ten years specialising in depression, trauma, anxiety, self-esteem, psychosexual issues and, more recently, sex addiction

Jo works with individuals and couples presenting with a wide range of issues and regularly works with trauma, abuse and relationship difficulties.

Joanne

Following qualification, Joanne initially worked as a volunteer counsellor in an NHS Trust Staff Support & Counselling Service and a city charity

John

John has been working as a counsellor and therapist for 21 years. He originally trained with Relate as a Systemic Relationship and Family counsellor. Later, as a fully qualified Psychosexual Therapist, he was interested in working with people with sexually compulsive behaviours.

Jillian

Jillian originally trained with Relate as Couple Therapist in 2006 and went on to gain a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy

Julie

Julie is a therapist whose clinical background has focused on working with individuals experiencing addiction and relationship issues

Lilian

Lilian brings expertise in the field of drug and alcohol addiction, with a foundation in clinical practice within the NHS and supported accommodation settings

Lisa

Lisa is a sex addiction counsellor, person-centred therapist and mental health mentor. She has been working in the field for 20 years

Michael

Michael is a relational integrative counsellor who specialises in sex and porn addiction.

Peter

Peter has a background working with individuals with various relationship and addiction issues.

Robin

Robin has worked as a counsellor in the field of addictions since 2002. He has extensive experience of working with addictions and compulsive behaviours, both in private practice and residential rehab.

Sharon

Sharon has worked as a counsellor for 15 years, specialising in trauma, chronic pain, rape and sexual abuse, and more recently sex addiction

Simon

Simon is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with over 25 years’ experience providing counselling, training and consultancy

Siobhan

Siobhanis an Integrative Counsellor and Psychosexual Therapist whose experience spans more than 25 years,
