Following qualification, Joanne initially worked as a volunteer counsellor in an NHS Trust Staff Support & Counselling Service and a city charity.  She then established and managed a private counselling centre in her local town, from which she and other counsellors ran their private practices.  From experience working with individuals and couples, Joanne recognised a need to provide an enhanced service for clients, to address sexual problems.  This led her to embark on an MSc in Psychosexual Therapy.  Working as a Psychosexual Therapist for a Relate service alongside her private practice, Joanne then took the opportunity to enhance her knowledge further by training in the field of sex addiction.  Joanne always places the client and their needs at the centre of the work, using a variety of approaches within a warm, welcoming and safe space.  Prior to her counselling career, Joanne worked in the arts, education and broadcasting sectors.
