Specialist Group Supervision

For professionals working with CSBD and problematic pornography use

Working with compulsive sexual behaviour disorder (CSBD), problematic pornography use and sex or porn addiction can present particular clinical challenges. Practitioners may be working with complex issues around relationships, sexuality, shame, trauma, risk, disclosure and recovery, often alongside differing professional and theoretical perspectives.

Specialist supervision provides a confidential space to think through this work with colleagues who understand the field.

At the Laurel Centre, we offer specialist group supervision both to individual practitioners and to organisations and clinical teams working with these client groups.

Group supervision for individual practitioners

Our monthly supervision groups are for therapists and other practitioners who have already completed specialist training in CSBD, sex addiction and/or problematic pornography use and are working with clients in this field.

Groups provide an opportunity to discuss clinical work, reflect on challenges and dilemmas, and learn from the experience and perspectives of other practitioners.

Groups are kept intentionally small, with a maximum of six members, allowing everyone sufficient opportunity to bring clinical material and contribute to discussion.

  • 90 minutes per month
  • Maximum 6 practitioners per group
  • £45 per person, per month
  • Minimum 6-month commitment

Please note that these groups are for practitioners who have already undertaken specialist training in this field. They are not a substitute for specialist CSBD training.

Group supervision for organisations

We also provide dedicated specialist supervision for organisations whose teams work with CSBD, problematic pornography use and related sexual and relationship difficulties.

This may be particularly useful for organisations where CSBD forms only part of the team’s clinical work and where access to specialist knowledge and supervision is not available internally.

A group can include up to six members of your team. It does not need to be the same six people each month, giving organisations flexibility to offer places according to caseload and clinical need.

  • 90 minutes per month
  • Up to 6 team members
  • £225 per month
  • Minimum 6-month contract

Experienced specialist supervisors

Supervision is provided by senior members of the Laurel Centre team who are highly experienced supervisors as well as specialists in working with CSBD and problematic pornography use.

Our supervisors bring extensive clinical experience across individual therapy, couples work, psychosexual therapy and therapeutic groups, enabling supervision to consider the wider clinical and relational context rather than focusing solely on unwanted sexual behaviours.

As with all our work at the Laurel Centre, our approach is pluralistic, sex-positive and evidence-informed, recognising that there is rarely one explanation, model or therapeutic approach that fits every client.
