John

John has been working as a counsellor and therapist for 20 years. He originally trained with Relate as a Systemic Relationship and Family counsellor. Later, as a fully qualified Psychosexual Therapist, he was interested in working with people with sexually complusive behaviours. He trained with and later joined the Laurel Centre in 2018 and is now one of the senior associate team. He enjoys working with individuals and couples to create a safe and relaxed environment in which to explore their issues in a non-judgemental way. He also runs many of the online and residential support and recovery group programmes for the Laurel Centre. In 2023 he qualified as an IFS therapist and in 2024 he also trained in IFIO for couples and continues to explore this modality. Until 2017, John combined his therapeutic practice with a corporate career but has since retired to concentrate on therapy work full-time. In addition to his clinical practice, his role as Programme Director for the Laurel Centre is focused on expanding our therapeutic services and helping develop the practice. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his friends, family and dog, watching live sport and music, playing drums, guitar and watching live comedy.
