This day is based on the new book release, Sex Addiction: A Guide for Couples & Those Who Help Them and will give counsellors the skills to focus on the couple relationship when working with couples in recovery from sex or porn addiction and help clients move through Baucom’s 3 stages of impact, meaning and moving on. It includes practical strategies for building commitment to individual as well as couple recovery whilst avoiding the common pitfalls that can fuel relapse.
Aims
- To understand the impact of sexual addiction on the couple relationship
- To identify the therapeutic needs of the addicted partner, the partner and the couple and develop a contract with the couple to focus on the relationship needs

- To provide tools and therapeutic strategies to hep couples develop ‘meaning’ from what’s happened to their relationship and to themselves as individuals
- To help counsellors understand the role of therapeutic disclosure
- To help counsellors move clients from focusing on the survival of the relationship to focusing on the journey to reaching a decision
- To provide tools and therapeutic strategies to support relationship recovery for couples ‘moving on’ together
- To identify and recognise risks of addition relapse and partner trauma.
